Well this is one of those products. There is no doubt that in the first picture we see a bench but miraculously in the second picture we have not one but two chairs. Now how is that possible? Simple. All you need is a cool designer like Matthew Kroeker that created this multifunctional bench/chair.Now when you get divorced at least you don`t have to fight for this chair…now you can split it.

designer dining tablestags: kitchen/dining

Dining Tables are usually a fairly straightforward affair; four legs, perhaps a pedestal base, and your choice of a round or rectangular top. There are however quite a few stylish and unusual options to be had. Above: Dr. Peter Draenart’s Adler II table boasts both minimalist design and functionality. A lifting mechanism automatically swivels out a leaf in the middle of the table when the two sides are pulled apart. A smoothly finished stainless steel base helps to round out an already sleek profile. Bernard Vuarnesson’s Hexa and Bellato series of tables feature hidden surfaces that slide out for additional guests. Somewhat similar to the Rotor Coffee table, these are great for maximizing tight spaces. Scratch resistant laminate tops and solid wood construction maximize durability. The Infinity Table uses a clear glass top to channel all attention to its rattan legs. Each leg is composed of four sheets that twist 90 degrees around a central axis. Rounded chrome frames at the top and bottom keep the rattan anchored in place. Perhaps most unusual is the fan-shaped Ventaglio table by Charlotte Perriand. Planks of oak wood intersect at different angles to create table tops that are asymmetric individually, while three curved legs help to stabilize the structure. In pairs, complementary symmetry is revealed with seating for at least 4-6. Popularity: 4% [?]

Star Wars Inspired Desk Table

Tom Spina Designs created this custom Star Wars inspired desk for the studio office of Mark Hall, from the Grammy award-winning group Casting Crowns. Underneath the 1/2″ thick glass table top, a carved Han Solo emerges from below. Metal and fiberglass construction with a heavy glass top create an elegant and extremely unique piece of furniture. I’m not sure how many people will actually want a desk table that might be a little bit scarry, but finnaly is an unique piece, not with to much style but with attitudine. - Via - Geeklogie

Lobby Furniture Design: A Collection of Eero Aarnio Ball Chairs

I saw this striking photo today of a new movie cinema that is opening in Warsaw, Poland called the Multikino Złote Tarasy. As a fan of modern designer Eero Aarnio, I was stricken by the number of his famous Ball Chairs that appeared in the photo of the main lobby. I cannot recall seeing more than one of these at a time so seeing this group together was certainly a treat. I would not have put this collection together in my own mind, but I am glad that they did, because this is cool to look at. Via.

Changing Building Facade acts Like Pixels formed by Natural Light

When you are looking at these pictures this might look like a modern piece of architecture, but after you’ll see the video attached below you’ll see that Flare is more than that. Flare is a modular, computer-driven system that creates a moving skin for the facade of a building and it was created by Christopher Bauder and Christian Perstl. The Flare units are made up of computer controlled metal flake bodies which are by supplemented pneumatic cylinders. A great futuristic outer shell for any building. Because of the shape and size of each unit it can be placed on any designed building. Each metal flake reflects the bright sky or sunlight when in vertical standby position. When the flake is tilted downwards by a computer controlled pneumatic piston, its face is shaded from the sky light and this way appears as a dark pixel. By reflecting ambient or direct sunlight, the individual flakes of the FLARE system act like pixels formed by natural light. And now after you have an idea of how this system works, and you saw some pictures here is the most interesting part of this post, a video clip that shows the different patterns that are created based on how the tilting flakes reflect natural light.

Stairs Made From Skateboard Decks

Skateboarding, the act of both riding on and performing tricks using a skateboard, is more and more popular these days. Here on Freshome we presented a few pieces of furniture inspired by the skateboard culture, the skateboard shelf, and a few other pieces of skateboard inspired furniture. Today again inspired by the skateboard culture here is an example of using skateboards at something they are not used to. At the Roarockit Skateboard School in Toronto, they used skateboard decks to build a stairway. The builder says “The aluminium beam is a solid billet of aluminium and the decks were custom made with concave only on one Beverly Hills: Edge / Leather Sofa Sets. You should see the look on our students faces when they make the treck to the basement.” I’m pretty sure that every skater would love to have something like in his own house .. - Via
