The M3231 Minimalist Bench Focuses on the Bare EssentialsI always have admiration for minimalist pieces as they focus on the bare essentials as the true heart of their design. The M3231 Bench by Ilaria Marelli Studio illustrates that principle. M3231 features thin stainless steel in construction of its frame and backrest. The seat uses teak wood to create a comfortable area upon which to seat. Measurements: 95 cm x 200 cm x 31/60 cm. Product: here. The 3 seater Jonque SofaDesigned by a french company La Maison Coloniale, that specializes in incorporating the concept of ancient pieces and original designs with contemporary lines, the 3 seater Jonque Sofa is a piece that can have a big impact in defining a beautiful interior. With this piece of furniture La Maison Coloniale brings you the splendor of Asian influences together with a contemporary twist allowing you to create a truly unique space by bringing together different styles.Wonderful Indoor Pool DesignsI was blown away when I saw the indoor pool designs created by Manuel Ocaña. The amazing thing about this project is that this was a refurbishment of an old house. My first impression was "new construction", but as I read on I learned more of the project. This home is in Madrid, Spain and it measures 8 x 8 meters. That size does not give a lot of room to work with. The history is that the couple insisted on the installation of an indoor pool as part of the new house plans. I sure would like to meet that couple and take in a swim. Via.Multicolor Walls Using LightsLast month I’ve wrote an article that had a huge success and received a lot of comments. That article was Room Color and How it Affects your Mood, if you didn’t saw him until now you should take a look, because you can learn a lot of useful stuff from this article. Now starting from this article Duravit came with an interesting idea, to create individual light effects with the help of adjustable lighting on the Mirror. As you know the room color can affect you mood, and these lights can change the atmosphere in a second, just by changing the light. The collection, e-mood, was the innovation of Munich’s Andreas Struppler, who is known for his ability to combine technology and innovation. Here, e-lights (and Mirrors) combine with both ambient and LED lights; Controllers are tucked neatly within shelves; and, communication between them all is by wireless. Forget needing a remote control (and needing to locate it) — just simply touch a light — and all will respond. The Pablo Dining Chair is Danish Modern ArtI have always been a huge fan of Danish modern furniture, especially solid teak cherry. The Danish modern style is timeless, and acquires more character as these woods mature and take on a rich hue adding to their allure. One of favorite pieces is the Pablo dining chair from Koefoed furniture of Denmark. The Pablo chair is surprisingly comfortable despite it low all wood rounded back that is comprised of two halves connected by discrete bracing. In addition to use as a dining chair, the Pablo can be a perfect accent or guest chair in residential or commercial environments that require uncommon style. Available in solid teak or cherry with fabric, micro fiber, or top grain leather seat. Home offices are usually considered what designers call "private areas", meaning that they are not some place where people would come when they visit your home. Libraries, while once reserved for only the extremely wealthy, are becoming a popular luxury and are showing up in many custom built homes. The privacy rating for a library can depend on the size of the library and the worth of its contents, but generally a library is a "public area" where family and friends can be invited to read a book or share good conversation on the current authors they're into. Like any other room, the design of the spaces can range from Olde World Traditional, to Modern or Funky Contemporary. No matter which style you choose, some basic components are required (or at least highly recommended) to make the space complete and functional. Perhaps the best embodiment of Courtney is in her innovative Cloud Bed which serves as a “room within a room”. This is a bed that is layered with meaning: the curved corners are clearly contemporary, the frame is based on Chinese alcove beds from the Ming Dynasty, and the cutouts are digitized clouds from a trip to Patagonia. All the while, the bed is more functional than most, with casters that allow for easy repositioning. Image attribution: Heather and Fraying Corrugated cardboard is not necessarily the classiest of materials to emulate, but the Map d furniture and Corrugated Bench (both, above) are surprisingly handsome. Made from bent plywood, the wavy sheets are not only interesting but also help to give structural integrity to the overall piece (much like with real cardboard). The plywood itself is detailed with silk screened patterns; forests in the case of the Map d furniture, and chantilly lace for the Corrugated Bench. As a fellow Bay Area resident, I can relate to the rationale behind Courtney’s prototype Quake Shelves. Each shelf (made from Padauk wood) is bolted to the wall with a patina-finished metal bracket–not a bad feature to have in a tremor, although the shelf can slide back and forth within the bracket. The metal actually is dotted with holes that represent the locations of earthquakes in California for the previous week, guaranteeing a certain level of uniqueness for each piece. The Un-upholstered chair is exactly that - this chair not only revels in its wooden frame, but has been routed through the Walnut veneer to expose the base plywood. A repeating floral pattern and the natural warmth of Walnut is enough to temporarily fool the eye into thinking the chair is perhaps thinly wrapped in fabric, but this chair is simply wood, through and through. Like the Un-upholstered chair, these Tree Stools reflect Skott’s Wood/Furniture background, although more in spirit than d furnitureposition. Save for a plywood frame, the stools are actually designed d furniturefort with ample foam padding. Each stool is wrapped in a jacket of wool which is meticulously pin tucked to give it the appearance of bark. As with many of Courtney’s other pieces, these stools are expensive at $3500. I do however look forward to seeing more of her work in the near future, if not for ownership, at least for d furniture Popularity: 7% [?]Spanna Extending Dining Table from Design Within ReachLift and slide dining tables provide a smoother transition when making additional room than regular extendable tables with inserting leaves do. Coming from a large family, you may never know exactly how many people you'll be entertaining for Sunday dinner, so being able to easily and quickly extend your four person Spanna table to a six person table makes it quite versatile. This Design Within Reach exclusive is made with a solid beech wood frame and topped with tempered glass for durability and safety. At a price of $990 the Spanna table comes in both natural beech and coffee colors, and fits nicely in a 29.5"H x 35-70"H x 35"D area without chairs. I personally recommend the Kyoto Dining Chairs also offered online by DWR.Conceal Bookshelf - Have Your Dorm Room Books "Float in Air"The conceal bookshelf is a clever idea where a shelf is installed into the wall. The bottom book is affixed to the protruding shelf which creates a stable base upon which to stack other books. This is a great idea for a dorm room where space is at a premium. Textbooks while not in use can be stored away on the bookshelf and appear to "float in air". The maximum weight allowed is 20 lbs. Price: $12.99.
