Michael grew up in a house where the furniture changed more frequently than the grass required cutting. His mother, a long time antique buyer, bought and sol d furniture of every variety on a daily basis. Having been in sales of one form or another for most of his adult life, he worked for a time in architectural sales where his love of design and eye for quality grew. In 2002, Michael decided to peruse a different career path. While attending college, his love of literature and writing was renewed. Michael has always read and collected architectural books and magazines, particularly pertaining to smaller homes. In 2007, Michael recognized d furnituremon thread in many of the books, magazines, blogs and other web sites he read -- living in smaller spaces was catching on in a big way. Many of us live in situations where there is no venting for fire places. Most condominiums, apartments, and lofts are built with this standard. Handmade Upholstered Furniture by EJ Victor
In today's world it is seldom that you find handmade furniture due to the advancements in manufacturing and technology. It is much cheaper and faster for upholstere d furniture to be constructed using cost effective techniques rather than "bench made" one at a time. Handmade techniques are very labor intensive and as a result end with higher prices due to the many hours of human production time, but the product is more structurally sound and detailed. Cool and Unique Apartment Windows
Project Fudomae is an urban living apartment complex featuring cool and unique windows. A departure from typical building standards, the windows draw upon contemporary influence with a "dare to be different" theme. In actuality, the apartment units themselves are very small totaling only 18 meters of space. Each unit does come with a kitchen, bathroom, and Living Room providing the basics of living needs. Desu Design is another furniture designpany, but one with its roots in Los Angeles. Originally specializing in architectural metals, Desu is similar in concept to Steelogic but utilizes a greater variety of materials in its work. Above: the LR-1 has all the trappings of a futuristic bench, with a white satin urethane finish, stainless steel loops for legs, and inlaid colored glass with rounded corners on a built-in side table. Not only is the LR-1 a stylish seat, but it also can double as a bed; the supportive foam cushions account for approximately 6 feet of its nearly 8 foot span.
If Symbol doesn’t look much like a coat rack at first glance, that’s because it was specifically designed that way. Desu’s team ap parently has an aversion to empty wall hooks and wanted to create something that would look attractive during the summer months. The final design design utilizes retractable hooks that swivel into the aluminum frame when not in use. The playful colors of the hooks may not be for everyone, so Symbol is also available in a mono chrome style.
Void and Slot are tables which share a similar feature: a deep crevasse that breaks up what otherwise would be a flat tabletop which also doubles as a leg. In the case of Void, the crevasse is surrounded on three sides by brushed stainless steel. The Slot opts for an open design, since its slot is lined with Mirror-polished stainless steel, a brilliant contrast to the rest of the table which is powder coated in metallic brown.

CD Furniture - Vienna
In these days people seem to have more places to hold the CDs and DVDs than books. For those here is a beautiful piece of furniture that allows you to store your digital data in an original way. The Vienna CD furniture joins two seemingly incomparative styles: Baroque and High-tech. In a traditionally handmade, golden baroque frame the Austrian designer f maurer puts a metallic structure, in which exactly 288 CDs can be arranged.
Through a series of bore holes in the structure the vertical inox-bars can be positioned in optional distances, so that the CD- collection can be grouped individually.
