Contemporary Belair Residence in California

On a two-acre plateau in Belair, California, the contemporary Belair Residence by Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects is a great mix of rounded shapes, amazing lighting and colors. Promoting open spaces, featuring wooden furniture in perfectly chosen places and an inverted cone that creates a contemporary focal point, we’re looking at an exquisite and tranquil home that many of us wouldn’t afford. The ground floor features a kitchen, a breakfast room and a glassed dining room, there are three children’s bedrooms and a games room at the first floor , while the top floor has the “creme de la creme”, a private guest suite and a massage room. Lovely, isn’t it?

Lampshades You Can Peel Off and On!

There is something to commend about the bare light bulb. It could give you the extreme minimalism look you desire or be simply a poignant remember of impoverished student days. Either way, these great peel able light bulb covers should brighten up that naked light bulb in your home. They’re called Bulbcaps and are made from heat-resistant silicon rubber. They come in all kinds of funky colors for you to mix and match. They are rated for no more than 40 watt lightbulbs but there is no restrictions for low energy ones. The luminescent pigments embeded in the bulbcaps allow the lampshade to glow a green-yellow color for a short while after the light has been turned off. They are available from Molla Space and cost $20 each.

Floating Drawer Bed

The Floating Drawer Bed is project made by Scott Sykor and he made this project because he wanted to design and build a simple bed frame which would allow him to conserve space in his room. The outer frame is made from 1×3 boards of maple and the drawer box is constructed using furniture grade plywood. The outer frame comes apart for easy transportation and the drawer set solved all my clothing storage needs. The most interesting part of this project is the illusion of the drawer set suspended in midair, a really cool effect that can draw a lot of attention. - Via - Yankodesign

Designer Free Standing Step Ladder

If you have floor to ceiling bookcases or a home library, you may be looking for a free standing step ladder that has been created with a designer's touch as opposed to the practical look of one from a hardware store. This step ladder is called "Heaven" and has been created to stay out in a library or office and not ruin the look of the room. Heaven is crafted of aluminum sheet metal that can be lacquered in either white or black. Measurements: 37 cm x 36 cm x 66 cm. Available: here.

Add Bedding on Demand with Daybeds and Trundles

How can you argue with proven success, and a history that dates back to 1855. Charles P. Rogers & Co. has been making every kind of bed you can think of from canopy, sleigh, brass and hand forged iron, as well as daybeds, just to name a few. The Charles P. Rogers line encompasses beds in several categories from contemporary to traditional, with platform or standard mattress and box spring arrangements. The stylish daybed shown here is the perfect solution for extra bedding that can double as a sofa in a room not necessarily reserved as a bedroom. In addition to the top sleeping surface, a pop up trundle bed can be stored underneath which simply rolls out and lifts up to be level with the daybed surface, doubling the bed size. Daybeds and trundles are available in a narrow 33" or standard 39" twin sizes.

The Superego Buffet Takes Charge of the Dining Room

Be careful adding the ultra modern Superego Buffet / Server to your current furniture lineup unless it can hold it own against this well named piece. Marco Acerbis designed this ultra modern beauty for the Acerbis International collection which as you can see is very clean and free from distractive hardware or a multiple drawer configuration. The two large pullout and sliding doors reveal ample storage and small drawers perfect for flatware. I really like the white and metal two tone concept and large radius corners that round out the smooth modern style. Marco Acerbis is a well accomplished designer for his relative short career and his interests cover a wide range of subjects from architecture to product design, and interior design to graphic art. Marco designs furniture and lighting products for Fontana Arte, Colombo Design, Alias, and Acerbis International and all of his works are stunning to say the least.

Unlike towel racks, Towel Spa can be stored away during warmer months when it is not needed. The design purpose behind this product is for you to enjoy a heated towel much like you would if you were visiting a spa. Price: $79.99. Product: here.

White Interior Design Inspiration : Long Island White Castle

A castle is not exactly my dream home and if you only add white and black, then it’s worse. But there is something about the White Castle and I’m not sure what. Believe me I’ve been looking at these pictures for over an hour now and it’s somehow addictive. Designed by architect Steve Blatz for a private art dealer - Olivier Renaud-ClĂ©ment - the 1,500-square-foot immaculate city loft was intended to showcase his collection of art & Italian design from the 60s and 70s. The clean sharp shapes, the mixture between a highly modern architecture and the furniture, the no-doors living space plus the monochromatic scheme really appeal to me. Do you like this white palazzo? - T Style Magazine

Shogun Juniper Bonsai

Browsing on Amazon today I’ve found these beautiful Shogun Juniper Bonsai at just $34,99. This juniper bonsai will create the illusion of an aged miniature tree in nature. Enjoy the ancient Japanese tradition of Bonsai cultivation with our Shogun Juniper Bonsai. The term ‘bonsai’ literally translated from Japanese means tray planting or tree in pot. The term refers specifically to the training and artistic vision applied to the tree; ultimately this will give the illusion of an aged miniature tree in nature. It is more than just a little tree, it is an attempt to represent nature itself in a small pot. Nurturing such a micro-environment over many years can be a wellspring of meditative pleasure. Harmoniously balanced with an ancient piece of granite in a stylish, 7″ cobalt blue ceramic pot. This small tree will do best if it can be placed outdoors, at least during the growing season. Like other conventional bonsai, it needs sun, wind, and rain to approximate the life of a “real” tree.
