Henredon Reinvents Traditional with the Natchez Buffet
With the blessing of the Historical Natchez Foundation of Mississippi the Henredon furniture company has reinterpreted Mid-19th century Rococo Revival styling to bring the Natchez collection to life. This distinctly southern collection has been updated to work with today's modern homes while retaining its nostalgic appeal. Henredon has been a world class manufacturer of traditional furniture since 1945 and shows it here with intricate carvings, stunning scale, and precise detailing executed in rich mahogany and highly figured ash burl. It is very hard to pick a favorite but I really like the Natchez buffet server with its serpentine front and combination of wood and glass doors. The attention to detail is obvious from first glance, and as an owner of a full Henredon dining set from the 50's I can say the quality is not just surface deep. Amazing Upside Down House
The Upside Down House is a project created by a Polish businessman and philanthropist named Daniel Czapiewski, and is located in Poland in the tiny village of Szymbark, and here are a few pics with this house. Rather than simply being a bizarre tourist attr action this house, managed to attract thousands of tourists. The house is also meant to be a profound statement about the Communist era and the state of the world. Czapiewski’s company would normally take three weeks to construct a house, but this one took 114 days because the workers were disorientated by the strange angles of the walls. Many tourists who visit complain of mild seasickness and dizziness after just a few minutes of being in the structure. Now let’s take a look at some pictures with this house.

Future Architecture : Floating Ecopolis for Climate Refugees
According to the less alarming forecasts of the GIEC (Intergovernmental group on the evolution of the climate), the ocean level should rise from 20 to 90 cm during the 21st Century with a status quo by 50 cm (versus 10 cm in the 20th Century). As a solution to this alarming problem architect Vincent Callebaut came up with this ecotectural marvel that could serve as a luxurious future retreat for 50,000 inhabitants seeking refuge from rising waters due to global warming. He believes the world will be desperately seeking shelter from the deva stations of climate change, and hopes the auto-sufficient amphibious city will serve as a luxurious solution. To bad that right now we are close to 7 billion people and this luxurious future retreat is just for 50,000 inhabitants ( just for rich people ).
Vincent Callebaut called this project “Lilypad“, but this ecotectural marvel is also called as “Floating Ecopolis for Climate Refugees”. The whole structure is covered in green walls and roofs, the top portion covered in grasses with the inner portion featuring a palm oasis, and the under portion serving as a bed for natural sea planktons and oceanic plants. Finally if you were already planning to reserve a place to this luxurious future retreat stay calm, because Vincent Callebaut hopes that “Floating Ecopolis for Climate Refugees” will make the transition from design to reality around the year 2100.

2Jane Co. is named after the Greenwich Village address of owner Roxie Mae, who regarded the once-Bohemian enclave as “a direct route to life’s inspired possibilities”. Although no longer a resident, a progressive vibe is embodied in much of the imported goods soled on Roxie’s website. Above: UK-based Innermost Homeware’s ghostly vases and clocks mix contemporary design with ornate etchings. Yee-Ling Wan’s glass Fantome Clock also includes a Mirrored backing that effectively double its depth, while the GHOST Candelabra and Vase are formed from intersecting planes of etched acrylic.
WelMadeProducts hails from the other side of the globe in Hong Kong, and features intricate patterns that are neither Asian nor European. Most of their tableware takes the form of wiry black scrolls against pure white bone china, but their serveware and a limited number of dinner and dessert plates are decorated with frosted etchings over clear glass.
Polly furniture designe’s Mr. and Mrs. Jones are two porcelain heads (one male, one female) that regularly adorn a drinkware collection that includes teapots, mugs and cups. If this sounds strange to you, that’s because it is–the inanimate couple forms everything from the top of teapot lids to the middle of juicers. Perhaps most disturbing is the use of the heads on the rims of mugs: for left handers, this means gazing back at a disembodied head while sipping coffee.
Also by Polly furniture designe is the Butterfly & Rose Collection. The human heads are replaced by much more conventional butterflies and roses, making for a beautiful (as opposed to macabre) collection of mugs, jugs and vases.
Lastly we have the Lehti Trays, which start at an astounding $800–but as part of the permanent collections of New York’s MoMA and London’s V&A, rightly so. These trays maintain a lightweight presence with hundreds of intersecting veins and a myriad cutouts, but are amazingly made from metal. I’m not sure how it maintains its structural integrity, but each piece definitely holds its own as a tabletop furniture design
